One of the hardest things in life I ever experienced on 07/02/20, she was 16 yrs old and passed from kidney failure overnight...being a Native American we learn animals pass and spirit goes on another journey in life
We gift her body to the ground
Mystery
holds her now.
We honor this sigil of our time.
We love you
We miss you
We honor
Our baby girl.
We love you.

Well, it's taken my spirit many years to find the courage to allow this song to be offered to the public. Especially under this so called "Blood of the Black Owl" banner. With that said however, it's never felt more appropriate as of late, through this fading musical endeavor of mine known as Blood of the Black Owl and I'm ready to share a poignant piece of work.
"Her Last Few Hours of Life" is a memorial piece capturing one of the rawest emotive experiences within my life. Literally just after my baby girl Tripawed, a feline, whom I raised from roughly two months old passed away within my arms. The very next two days, I was compelled to offer myself and my life partner Rachel, medicinal release for both of our heartbroken spirits. I've never truly had anything just flow its way so easily out of the heart, as much as this song had. Regarding my personal process, that's a tremendous statement, as this notion is what I thrive upon within in my work. For authenticity is everything and "The way to Catch the River is to hold very lightly."
As I rediscover this song and look upon the photographic element Rachel captured of the two of us the day of her death, I'm still heartbroken. I've never truly loved anything as strongly as I had with her and my other sweet girl Berkana. A black feline whom also was raised from kitten hood and lived seventeen years with Rachel and I. The release of this work if anything, is certainly symbolic of me finally moving on.
The sampled recording you will hear within the last movement of the song, is audio taken from a video recording. A beautiful moment with myself saying goodbye the day she passed. If you listen carefully, you will hear her finally react to my presence with a good old head shake.
Suffering from cancer and kidney failure, she died within my arms, within my home and was seventeen years when she passed on November 17th, 2013.
I dedicate this song to all of you whom have transcended the horrible human mentality of speciesism and found true love and loss within our beautiful beings, our fur babies, our four legged brothers and sisters, sons and daughters...Our friends.
Love and warmth,
-Chet W. Scott

***TESTIMONIALS***
Thank you for this very beautiful and emotional piece of work! As someone who's had to say goodbye to several furry loved ones over the years, this song resonates strongly with me. I got both choked up and teary-eyed listening to it.
Take care and be well,
-Thorbjörn

I think the concluding song encapsulates what I most enjoy about this album: a defiant hopefulness that stands against the dark, determined to rise again when its knocked down, determined that it will know hope. archival_blob

"This record is in honor of the northern lights, which very few things in the world are more beautiful and awe inspiring than" and we can say the same of Panopticon's work. Even a EP with "leftover" songs carries so much beauty. Thetruebia
